Forgotton words on culture & alienation
Culture by its very definition is something that moulds your behaviours and personality to fit into a particular style that was determined for you at birth by your geographical location and the people around you. Psychedelics allow us to get past this near permanent conditioning that holds every one of us back in life. The power of psychedelic compounds to remove us from our cultural filter stems from its ability to produce states of consciousness so radically different to what we are used to but still very much based in the themes of reason and introspectiveness. It’s from this position that we can judge the world and ourselves from an unbiased almost third person perspective.
However, the permanent removal of the cultural filter is something that generally results in varying levels of alienation from friends and family as you begin to realize that the already high percentage of your loved ones who are concerned exclusively with trivial bullshit is surprisingly even* higher than previously thought. To me choosing culture before alienation is the same as adopting an ignorance is bliss mindset and although difficult to manage becomes much easier if it is possible to drag a few willing close friends along as you descend into madness. Knowing that the people around you act the way they do because of the conditioning society has placed on them rather than a conscious choice can also help us to understand them and not feel too alienated.
*WTF Right? It was always almost all of them before this happenedanywayfuckthisshi
